Operations and Programs Manager Search

Introduction

The Center for Learning and Childhood Development-Ghana (CLCD) is looking for someone to occupy the role of operations and programs manager. CLCD is a collaborative research-based non-profit organization, registered in Ghana (CG195562015) and also in the US as a 501.c.(3) organization. Its mission is to use research, advocacy, and capacity building to promote children’s survival and development in Ghana.

CLCD’s work is based on its three pillars: research, capacity development, and advocacy. (1) The Center engages in research to discover and test innovations that can save newborn lives and promote child development, (2) uses evidence-based research to train caregivers and child development professionals as well as organizations to deliver quality services; (3) advocate for the needs of children, particularly newborns and those who live with a disability to be addressed.

The operations and programs manager will use a blend of administrative, management, leadership and people skills to ensure effective implementation of the organization’s strategic plans and programs. The ideal candidate will be able to work both independently and as part of a team on organizational activities. The candidate should also be open to new learning and contributing to productivity and overall growth of the organization. While all tasks may not be carried out at the same time, the role will require the candidate to lead organizing and implementing programs such as internships and conferences as well as managing staff to ensure productivity.

Job Description

Manage Administrative Operations

  1. Lead recruitment and management of new staff, project personnel, including volunteers, national service personnel, interns, research assistants, and consultants.

  2. Coordinate new staff and project personnel orientation.    

  3. Manage  and evaluate the implementation of the organization’s annual and strategic plans, including supervising and supporting staff to meet their deliverables

  4. Provide staff with logistical and administrative support to perform their roles effectively                     

  5. Liaise with the Senior manager to assign organizational activities as needed

  6. Manage the organization’s correspondence, including sending and responding to emails and completing forms

  7. Liaise with the Senior manager to solve problems and troubleshoot where necessary.

  8. Attend stakeholder meetings on behalf of the organization    

  9. Host guests and partners on behalf of the organization, including making arrangements for accommodation, transportation, and overall support.

  10. Ensure compliance of all regulatory processes, both internal and governmental

  11. Maintain effective data management and filing system for the organization    

    Manage Internship Program

    1. Coordinate with program faculty to share necessary documents and     materials with institutions and students

    2. Coordinate the orientation of students and faculty about Ghana, CLCD, and the internship program

    3. Manage the recruitment and implementation of student practicums, including supporting the supervisors to complete forms and meet students’ learning needs

    4. Host Study Abroad students by making accommodation and transportation arrangements before they arrive.

    5. Manage the implementation of program activities,, including prior arrangements at study sites and tourist centers

    6. Provide students’ needs, including safety, comfort, and acculturation.

    7. Support the lead faculty to meet the learning needs of students.  

      Coordinate Stakeholder Engagement       

    1. Coordinate  the organization’s stakeholder meetings (conferences, workshops, events, and seminars), with support from project and program staff

    2. Laisse between the Center and key government stakeholders, with support from the Senior Programs Manager

    3. Ensure logistics to support the Center’s events and engagement are provided

      Manage Family  Empowerment Program    

    1. Participate in the design and refinement of the Center’s Family Economic Empowerment program for caregivers of children with disability

    2. Create database to manage and track the success of the Center’s Family economic empowerment program

    3. Support fundraising activities to support the Center’s Family empowerment program
