Overview

Center for Learning and Childhood Development-Ghana is a concerted, research-based, non-governmental organization dedicated to early child development and learning in Ghana. We collaborate with institutions and organizations to champion priority research and programmatic needs in early child development. Our focus is primarily on the urban poor and rural residents, the population most susceptible to poor early child development outcomes and where research indicates the greatest impact could be made. Presently, our program areas are maternal, neonatal and child health, developmental delays and disorders, early childhood education, and basic education.

Our story

CLCD-Ghana was founded by two high school friends who wanted to make a difference. They combined their passion to see children thrive and backgrounds in health, education and research to achieve that passion. One friend wanted to find better ways to help teachers teach children with variety of learning problems and styles. The other wanted to address the problem of why so many children in Ghana die in the first month (neonatal period) of life. They found a common ground in research as a means to help children to survive and thrive
