RECRUITMENT OF A Financial Manager
CENTER FOR LEARNING AND CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT (CLCD Ghana)
❖ Background and Purpose
The Centre for Learning and Childhood Development (CLCD) is a collaborative, research-based nonprofit organisation dedicated to promoting children’s survival, learning, and overall development. CLCD advances research, builds institutional capacity, and advocates for evidence-based policies that improve early childhood development outcomes in Ghana and beyond.
To strengthen its financial systems, provide strategic financial leadership, ensure compliance with donor requirements and enhance institutional sustainability, CLCD invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Financial Manager
❖ Scope of Responsibilities and Key Duties
Financial Management and Reporting
Lead the preparation of annual budgets and project-specific budgets.
Monitor organisational and project expenditures against approved budgets.
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Produce donor-compliant financial reports in line with grant agreements.
Provide financial analysis and advisory support to Management.
Accounting and Internal Controls
Oversee accounting systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial records.
Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial transactions.
Strengthen and maintain internal control systems.
Manage cash flow and banking operations.
Supervise payroll administration and statutory deductions.
Compliance and Audit
Ensure compliance with Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), SSNIT, and other statutory obligations.
Coordinate external audits and respond to audit queries.
Ensure adherence to donor financial guidelines and reporting standards.
Support the development and updating of financial policies and procedures.
Strategic Financial Planning
Contribute to organisational sustainability planning.
Provide financial projections and risk analysis.
Support grant proposal development, particularly budgeting components.
Advise Management on financial implications of strategic decisions.
❖ Duration and Nature of Engagement
This is a full-time position based in Ghana.
The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract of two (2) years subject to renewal based on satisfactory performance.
❖ Deliverables and Performance Expectations
The Financial Manager will be expected to:
Submit timely and accurate monthly financial statements.
Produce donor financial reports in accordance with grant timelines.
Ensure zero major audit queries attributable to internal control weaknesses.
Maintain updated financial records and policy documents.
Support Management with financial forecasts and sustainability planning.
❖ Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Interested applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
A Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field (preferred).
Professional qualification such as ACCA, ICA, CIMA, or CA (mandatory or near completion).
Minimum of five (5) years’ progressive experience in financial management
Demonstrated experience managing multi-donor grants.
Strong knowledge of Ghanaian financial regulations and tax laws.
Proven experience in preparing for and coordinating external audits.
High level of integrity and strong analytical skills.
Proficiency in accounting software (Quick Books).
