Administrative Assistant Job Announcement

The Center for Learning and Childhood Development-Ghana (CLCD), is a collaborative, research-based, non-profit organization that seeks to discover and advance solutions to promote children’s survival and development. The CLCD is registered in Ghana (CG195562015) and the United States as a 501.c.(3) organization. 

The CLCD has a diverse portfolio of research and programs that cut across neonatal health, early childhood development, developmental disabilities, and global health training. We are looking for an Administrative Assistant to support and grow our administrative capacity. The successful candidate will support multiple projects, staff, and board members 

The specific responsibilities are:

Office and Program Support services

  • Support the implementation of the Center’s programs, including organizing conferences, community service, research projects, and related reports.

  • Coordinate the selection, recruitment, and training of the Center’s global health internship program.

  • Develop and maintain the Center’s information databases, including electronic and physical filing systems for all documents.

  • Serve as personal assistant to the Center’s Directors.

Meetings and conferences

  • Arrange and coordinate appointments, meetings, and functions, and prepare appropriate documents to assist with meetings.

  • Coordinate national-level travel arrangements, including transportation, accommodation, and documentation for CLCD’s external partners.

Communication

  • Manage the CLCD’s internal and external communications with staff, donors, and partners. 

  • Assist in creating content for the Center’s social media accounts and website.

  • Maintain a system to streamline communication and meet project deadlines and deliverables, including statutory and regulatory requirements for non-profits in Ghana.

  • Participate in writing programs and annual reports

 Finances and Productivity

  • Manage the Center’s office, including but not limited to arranging for regular cleaning, utility supply, repairs, and maintaining equipment inventory.  

  • Work with management to employ tools to improve organizational productivity and efficiency, including timesheets, training, and effective communication.

  • Assist with managing the organization’s finances, including entering transactions into QuickBooks, preparing account statements, and budgets

 Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, education communication, English, anthropology, sociology or related field, with 1-2 years of experience

  • Strong writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with research administrative management 

  • Experience with social media, blogs, and writing stories and newsletters 

  • Experience with Google Suites and Trello

  • Experience with QuickBooks

  • Experience with basic accounting principles.

Business Development Manager Job Announcement

General Description 

The Center for Learning and Childhood Development-Ghana (CLCD) is a collaborative, research-based, non-profit organization that seeks to discover and advance solutions to promote children’s survival and development in Ghana. The CLCD is registered in Ghana (CG195562015) and also in the United States as a 501.c.(3) organization. The Center’s three-year strategic goals are to improve its financial sustainability, demonstrate the impact of its program, and grow its brand as a leading child development organization.

The Center has a diverse portfolio of research and programs that cut across neonatal health, early childhood development, developmental disabilities, and global health training. We are looking for a talented, visionary, Business Development Manager to grow the organization’s portfolio and workforce. 

 The ideal candidate would have experience in managing a non-profit or related organization. The person would be highly motivated, have strong marketing and communication skills, be personable, and be a self-starter. 

 

The specific responsibilities are: 

General Responsibilities

  • Develop a business growth strategic plan for the center focusing on financial sustainability, client satisfaction, and excellent programming.

  • Present regular reports on business performance and areas of improvement with suggested recommendations to the Director.

  • Conduct funding forecasts and analysis and present them to the Director on a regular basis.

  • Identify and establish relationships with prospective clients (organizations seeking to promote maternal health, child health, early childhood development, developmental disabilities, training in global health)

  • Maintain a database of clients, including the history of our engagements with them, their funding cycles, mission 

  • Manage the entire sales process, including:

    • Identifying potential clients

    • Generating interest in CLCD’s offerings

    • Creating and submitting proposals

    • Securing contracts

    • Maintaining contact with clients during project implementation to ensure satisfaction

    • Pursue follow-up opportunities

Fundraising and Communication Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow a list of donors and partners for CLCD's family support program

  • Create and manage a cohort of sponsors to contribute funds and technical support to the organization

  • Organize fundraising events to support the center's programs.

  • Support the creation and implementation of innovative ideas to build a prominent brand image for the Center.

  • Promote the Center’s program results with an emphasis on the successes of the local program as a model for regional and national replication.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, communication, development studies, marketing, or related field with 5-7 years of experience. 

  • Demonstrated experience in creating and growing a business. 

  • Experience with grants or fundraising in the non-profit sector. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • Experience working in a child-focused, global health non-profit sector. 

  • Experience working in a research-intensive organization. 

 

 

Graphic Designer Job Announcement

General Summary/Purpose

The Center for Learning and Childhood Development-Ghana (CLCD), is a collaborative, research- based, non-profit organization that seeks to discover and advance solutions to promote children's survival and development. The CLCD is registered in Ghana (CG195562015) and also in the US as a 501.c.(3) organization.

The Center has a diverse portfolio of research and programs that cut across neonatal health, early childhood development, developmental disabilities, and global health training. We are looking for a talented, motivated graphic design or web-design volunteer intern to help the organization effectively communicate about its impact and work.

The ideal candidate would intern for at least three months and have some design experience for websites or social media.

The specific responsibilities are

The intern will work directly with the Center's Graphic Designer to support the Center's communication on various projects. Broadly, the intern will be involved in:

  • » Managing the organization's website and social media accounts

    » Analyzing online user traffic data to improve the content of the organization's communication media (website, newsletter, social media, directories)

    » Designing and publishing monthly newsletters using MailChimp

    » Developing infographics and communication materials to highlight the Center's work and impact, including its mobile rehabilitation service, WHO-UNICEF-Lancet-UCL advocacy project, and global health internship.

    » Design communication materials for CLCD-led conferences (e.g. programs, websites, registration forms)
